Vivekananda Kendra Shiksha Prasar Vibhag (VKSPV): An Educational Project of Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari

Swamiji's Historic Meditation: It was only boundless love for his motherland that made Swami Vivekananda, the great patriot monk, undertake wanderings all over India. 3 days' meditation-- on 25th, 26th and 27th December 1892 -- on the mid-sea rock on Kanyakumari on India’s past, present and future and he discovered the mission for glorious Bharatvarsha. The world was yet to see him shake the world by India’s spirituality.

Vivekananda Rock Memorial: This sanctified Kanyakumari also saw late Mananeeya Eknathji Ranade mobilise millions of Indians in constructing of the Vivekananda Rock Memorial that symbolises the glorious Indian mission visualized by Swami Vivekananda in his meditation.

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari: As Vivekananda Rock Memorial started taking shape, Shri Eknath Ranade envisaged Vivekananda Kendra as a spiritually oriented service mission, which would reflect Swami Vivekananda’s vision of glorious India in action. Its key objective is “Man Making and Nation Building” by awakening and intensifying spiritual and nationalist urge among the youth and channelling it for national reconstruction.

VKK's Nation Building Activities: The Kendra has 225 branch centres spread over 22 Indian states to work for all strata of the society to rebuild the nation. To achieve this, life workers, whole-time workers and the local workers of the Kendra carry out various service activities through Yoga, rural development projects, educational projects, projects to develop  natural resources, youth and women awareness programmes and publications based on the life and message of Swami Vivekananda.

VKK's Educational Project VKSPV: Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari embarked on its umbrella project Vivekananda Kendra Shiksha Prasar Vibhag (VKSPV) in 2004 in order to effectively administer all the VKVs of Assam and Nagaland that had been running since the inception of the earliest VKV in 1978 at Tinsukia.
